Egusi Quiche: A Fusion Delight

Whisking Together Tradition & Taste: Mini Egusi Quiche!

Welcome to another delicious journey with African Food Box! Today, we're bringing a unique twist to a classic French dish – the Quiche Lorraine. Introducing our Mini Egusi Quiche, a fusion recipe that blends the rich, nutty flavours of African Egusi stew with the creamy, comforting texture of traditional quiche. Perfect for brunches, parties, or as a novel snack, this recipe is not just a treat for the taste buds but also a delightful cultural blend.

Ingredients:

  • Egusi stew, ground
  • 80g Cream
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • Puff Pastry Sheets, ready-rolled
  • 1/6 cup Cheese (of your choice), grated
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 180°C (356°F). Lightly grease a mini muffin tin or quiche tray.
  2. Make the Filling: In a bowl, mix the ground Egusi stew, cream, and eggs until well combined. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Prepare the Pastry: Cut the pastry sheets into squares that fit your muffin tin or quiche tray. Press each square into the tray to form a mini crust.
  4. Assemble the Quiche: Spoon the Egusi mixture into each pastry cup. Sprinkle grated cheese on top.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the filling is set and the pastry is golden.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Let the quiches cool slightly before serving. These bite-sized delights are perfect on their own or paired with a light salad.

This Mini Egusi Quiche is more than just a dish; it's a celebration of culinary diversity. At African Food Box, we believe in exploring the uncharted territories of flavour combinations.
